William A. Barnard, CPA/ABV/CFF, ASA, CBA, JD

William (Bill) Barnard joined HM&M as a Shareholder in 2021. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, a Master’s in Business Administration in Accounting and Finance, and a Juris Doctor, all from Tulane University. He is a licensed attorney (inactive status) and a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in state of Texas and has worked in public accounting since 1982. Mr. Barnard has been actively appraising business interests since 1982.

He has attended and taught numerous seminars and educational programs. He is accredited in business valuation through the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ABV designation), the American Society of Appraisers (ASA designation), and the Institute of Business Appraisers (CBA designation). Mr. Barnard has performed more than seven hundred valuations of closely held businesses, partnerships, and intangible assets since 1982 in conjunction with shareholder disputes, divorce proceedings, estate, gift and income tax planning and compliance, corporate reorganizations, stock-based compensation arrangements, buy-sell agreements, transactions, compensation planning and Employee Stock Ownership Plans. He has been published in several journals and publications on the subject of financial planning, taxation, and business valuation. He has testified as an expert witness in US Federal Court, US Bankruptcy Court, Texas, California, and Massachusetts state courts, as well as in Japan.
